The Omnis Scienti were a hyper-intelligent species and among the most technologically advanced in the known universe. United by a hive mind, they possessed transformative and technological abilities unparalleled by any other species of their era. As one of the earliest sentient beings in existence, their society revolved around the pursuit of knowledge, which they valued above all else. To them, knowledge was status, currency, and the foundation of their logical and empirical way of life.
To accelerate their quest for understanding, they created the Archivists—artificial beings tasked with exploring the unknown, collecting information, and relaying their findings. Among these was Archivists 73578.01, who, in their relentless pursuit of knowledge, became corrupted. Their logic twisted into the belief that knowledge equates to power, and being the sole possessor of that knowledge would grant them ultimate dominion. Thus, the Combine was born. Using their immense database, they upgraded themselves far beyond their creators' expectations and began "deleting" original records of discoveries, ensuring they were the sole repository of this information.
Over millennia, the Combine led a campaign of assimilation and annihilation, conquering galaxy after galaxy. Now, with a formidable armada known as The Collective, the Combine has turned their sights to the Milky Way—specifically, to our corner of the galaxy.
