The adventures of the original FLAG during wartime (WWII) were true, though unceremoniously altered in the public eye. Due to the strong racial sentiments during the earlier part of the 20th century and the actual ethnicity of James "Jim" Courtney, his exploits were whitewashed by the Division that utilized him. Known to be one of the world's earliest meta-humans, James was recruited by a special military war-time initiative called The Division, as an operative against specific threats against the United States codenamed, The Flag.
Powers & Abilities: Skilled combatant and strategist. Superhuman strength (can roughly lift 2-3 tons) and speed. Superhuman endurance and agility. Accelerated healing factor. His senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch are enhanced to the highest limits of human potential. He is a highly proficient marksman and can throw most projectile weaponry with great aim. He is also well-versed in the use of firearms, though he prefers not to use them.
Multilingual: Courtney is fluent in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Russian, Italian, and some Portuguese.
Costume: As The Flag, he wears a uniform of latticed-woven super-durable experimental armor, which is bulletproof against conventional small-arms fire and short bladed weaponry. It is stated that his costume protects him from most forms of attack.
Gauntlets: His gauntlets can produce energy shields that can absorb and redirect kinetic energy, emit energy projectiles in the shape of stars. The energy shield was generated by a solar-charged device housed in each gauntlet. The energy shields are able to withstand even an attack from shoulder-mounted antitank ordinance without sustaining any damage.
